Learning to Worship!

Worship and Sunday School are seemlessly blended at WUMC as we come together each Sunday! People of all ages are learning to love worship together!

Gather at 10am

We begin worship with streamers and LED candles and people of ALL ages are invited to join the procession into worship. Gather at the back of the sanctuary. Even our youngest can carry in the light of Christ!

Sunday School

K-5th grade

Children remain in worship after the procession, leading us in our Call to Worship and joining us for singing. We then offer a blessing for all of God’s Children, and the young ones head to kids' zone, just off to the side of the sanctuary, for some age-appropriate study. Children re-join us for communion later in the service. Parents are invited to go and see where their kids are at any time. Parents attending for the first time are especially encouraged to follow the kids to meet our teachers and see the space. If your child has any special needs, please let us know then, or feel free to call the pastor ahead of worship.

Children are close enough to the sanctuary that they can find their parents at any time—even in the middle of the sermon. We expect a little extra chaos and see children's voices as praise to God. Parents also always have the right to say if they don't want their children to interupt them in the sermon. The key is, it's always the parents' choice. We honor and respect your wishes and what makes sense for you and your family.

Nursery

Ages 0-5 years

Nursery is available upstairs. Parents can choose have their kids in the procession and in service as long as you like. Should you choose to use the nursery, please exit out of the sanctuary into Kids' Zone and we will help you find your way. Nursery is available as a resource for parents. It is always up to the parents whether they want children in the nursery or in worship. We are okay with the noises of children! We also think it's okay for you to have some time to yourself for worship.

Special Needs

All Ages

We care about your family and long to be in community with you. Please talk with us about what systems we can put in place to make worship successful and meaningful for your whole family. You are welcome to call us ahead of worship, or to talk with our Sunday School team before church. If we don't have systems immediately in place, know we will make it a priority to serve your family.

If you have a family member who is verbal or unable to sit still, know that we welcome this and consider these as acts of praise. Your family is welcome!

Finally, we are committed to including all people and are working dillegently to make our building physically accessible.
